It was yet another rainy weekend here in San Cristobal. Instead of going on our planned trips to the waterfall and the beach, we tried to do anything we could not be bored! The weekend consisted of reading, playing (a lot of) cards, practicing my flute, teaching Albert how to play the recorder, and watching movies. Tonight, though, we cooked with our host mom, Consquelo! We made empanadas from scratch, and they were delicious! I think my Spanish is improving because she told us the directions in Spanish, and she didn't correct me at all! When we were cooking, two baby chickens came into the kitchen. They walked around picking up whatever scraps we dropped on the ground in addition to all of the mosquitos they could find. They were so cute! Also, we found out that we'll be getting three more girls in our home over the next two weeks! Two are from the United States coming to teach English, and the other is sixteen years old (that's all we know). It's going to be a full house! Tomorrow afternoon I'll start teaching at the high school in addition to the arts center. All I know is that I'm helping to start a marching band that is mainly percussion; I'll be sure to post how it goes! Buenas noches! |
The Trip of a Lifetime
I am travelling to the Galapagos Islands for eight weeks to teach music. There are very little "knowns" in this adventure. I simply know I'm teaching music to approximately thirty children, ages 6-15. Follow me throughout my experience in the blog below, or click the button for more information about how this experience got started.
