Not much has happened over the past few days. Because exam week is this week for the students, many of them haven't been showing up to rehearsal. Monday and Tuesday we got quite a bit done, yesterday I was sick, today only four students were there, and tomorrow there is no rehearsal due to a welcome celebration for new students. We'll pick back up on Monday, spending next week finishing learning all of the music, and the next week (my last week) cleaning, performing, and having fun!
This weekend will be filled with snorkeling and beach trips with all of the volunteers! There have been quite a few more that have arrived in the last week, so it'll be fun getting to meet everyone!
I was trying to figure out what to write today, and I realized that it's difficult to find something exciting to talk about because I finally have a routine going. I wake up, eat breakfast, go to the beach, come home to eat lunch, change for work, teach, come back and go for a run, eat dinner, talk to Albert and Consquelo for a while, and go out with friends at night. It's my life now. I've gotten used to the animals, the long walks, and the beaches. I've become accustomed to the relaxed mentality and way of life. It was a culture shock coming here, and it's going to be an even bigger one coming back home!
I think what I'm going to miss most, though, is my host family. I figured out a week or so ago that I ended up being with the wrong family. That, though, was definitely a God thing. I couldn't have been blessed with a better one! They're patient with my awful Spanish, they give me hugs when I look sad, they joke and are sarcastic with me, and they're interested in my life back home. They call me their daughter, and I truly feel like I am! I love learning to cook with Consquelo and Ofelia, telling jokes and picking on each other with Albert, getting ice cream and watching movies with Karla, and just sitting around and talking to all of them. I don't think I can ever express to them how thankful I am for making their house feel like home for me for eight weeks.
I'm including some pictures below. Hope you enjoy :)
